Most of us only know the Dunkirk as a WW2 movie as the evacuation of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and other Allied troops from the French seaport of Dunkirk (Dunkerque) to England. In 2021, the world is facing its’ modern-day equivalent. But Kabul is not Dunkirk. Allied Forces in WW2 turned the tide and eventually saved Europe from Nazi rule. In Kabul, Coalition Forces fought a completely unwinnable battle while training Afghan forces. Now, in a manner of days, Al Qaeda managed to crush Afghan forces, and any Coalition accomplishment over the last 20 years. …

Over the past few days the world has been witnessing the undeniable failure of a political experiment, and the Saigon-like evacuation of a US Embassy. Thanks to modern technology, we have been witnesses to Diplomatic and Military failure. We have been witnesses to the fear of an Afghan people scrambling to get on whatever flight departs from the airport in Kabul. Just this morning, while watching the news, I watched Afghans attempting to gain access to a US Air Force C-17 aircraft as it taxied for takeoff. They were literally grabbing the landing gear as it was on takeoff… and…

Last week America witnessed at our Nation’s Capitol, what we have only seen in news footage of politically unstable countries. I believe many Americans watched their televisions with their hearts beating a little faster and a lot of heartbreak. Like many of my former colleagues, I’ve witnessed public uprisings on foreign soil. Also, like many of my former colleagues, I always thought; “This would never happen in America.” All the while I hear Jim Morrison’s ominous voice singing “This is the end, beautiful friend…”

My takeaway’s from all this:

  1. Those that wholeheartedly believed Pres. Trump will continue to say that…

I’m a member of an elite group. A group of brave Patriots who gave up their comfortable lives to go places where most have only heard of in the News Media. We left our lives to do a job no one knew about, and we did it well. Everything we lived through came at an incredible cost. We are a Brotherhood of a shared experience.

In that previous life, we were invincible. We could do anything. We were and are fearless. We stand up for the weak. We provide, provided, and inspired. At some point in time, we pass the…

I’m a Latino man. I’m a Naturalized Citizen. I am as proud of my heritage as I am of my Country. For over 30 years I have served a nation, and I currently serve a community. I have many friends of different origins/nationalities, and I care about all of them. I pride myself in accepting people, ethnicity and communities for what they are. But did I really see everything and everyone around me, or did I just ignore what was actually there and live blissfully ignorant? Social media has created a platform (of which I take advantage and embrace) that…

Lessons learned from COVID-19:

  • EVERYONE is an infectious disease expert. (They are also Constitutional Scholars.)
  • EVERYONE either despises or loves POTUS and those same people either blame POTUS or believe he’s the savior.
  • EVERYONE either wants the country open or closed.
  • NOBODY trusts ANYTHING Government says. (I say believe 50% of what you hear & read, and 1/2 of what you believe is bullshit.)
  • High School Seniors in the state received an unexpected participation trophy for their Senior year.
  • School districts were vastly unprepared for online education. …

Disclaimer: This is opinion only stating my views of how our Nation is so incredibly flawed and concurrently well-run.

I watched the mostly one-sided impeachment hearings with Rep. Adam Schiff and Rep. Jerry Nadler stack the deck in an all but guaranteed passing of impeachment articles for the Senate. Then Speaker Pelosi held on to the articles for as long as she could in her political standoff with Sen. Mitch McConnell. It was all political gamesmanship. …

I took this picture on Sunday morning with the caption: “Well how about that?! Chick-fil-A won’t work on Sunday’s, but they’ll have other people work for them on Sundays.” Never did I expect to see the extremes in commentaries after I posted it on my Facebook page. I received comments ranging from; “Is this a joke?” to “They dictate how people should live…” to “…get educated on the subject first.” I mean, really. …

This past week I have found myself thinking a lot about that great decade in which I grew up; The 80’s. Yes, those wonderful and excessive 80’s. That decade where it was chic to drink to excess, be sexually excessive, be excessive in hairstyles, clothing and music. Yes, the 80’s brought us everything from Michael Jackson, to Madonna. The 80’s brought us John Hughes movies, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Return of the Jedi and Top Gun. The 80’s made excess okay and we ran with it at breakneck speed. But this is more than an homage to the 80’s…

My son left this morning to his new duty station in South Korea. As a father, I’m both heartbroken and proud. It doesn’t matter to me how old he and my children get, I worry. I want to protect them because it’s my nature. I must learn to let go and let my children grow. I must learn to to let them employ the lessons that have been imparted to them by my wife and I. So yes, Independence Day 2018 is different than the rest for very personal reasons.

Then there are the other reasons Independence Day 2018 is…
